This year our team is going to attend camp at Waynesburg University. Camp is scheduled for the week of June 28th to July 1st. This camp will cost $225.00, but wrestlers will be given a $25.00 discount if more than 8 of our wrestlers register for camp. Please register early!

VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Pysicals for next year will only be offered by the school this summer. It is very important that everyone gets a physical so you can practice and compete at the start of the season. Physicals will not be offered by the school during the school year so be sure to make it this summer to one of the dates below.

Off- Season Practice Times:
Coach Geibel will be running off-season practice sessions for wrestlers in grades 4 to 12.
The schedule for July and August:
7-27-10 – No Practice (gym and lobby floors are being reconditioned)
8-3-10 – No Practice (gym and lobby floors are being reconditioned)
8-10-10 – Practice - 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
8-17-10 – No Practice
8-24-10 – Practice 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Match Notes from Coach Geibel:
March 27, 2010: Congratulations to Ryan Hannon for his 5th place finish at the PJW State Championships at Wilkes-Barre this past weekend. Ryan won a total of 4 matches in route to his 5th place finish in the 147 lb weight class. He used a thrilling takedown with 2 seconds to go to claim 5th place. This ties the highest place ever for a 13-14 year old at PJW states from Butler.
Congratulations to Connor Foust for also qualifying for the PJW State tournament. Connor won his first match then dropped his final two. He lost a close, hard fought 2-0 decision to become a place winner in the state. Both his losses were close matches and both were to place winners (4th place and 8th place).
Hannon finished with 4 wins and 2 losses
Foust finished with 1 win and 2 losses.
End of Season - The Butler Golden Tornado Wrestling team finished off its fine season by not only winning the North Allegheny Tournament but also winning the team strength award!They edged out North Allegheny Gold for both of these awards.The Junior High “GT” brought 16 wrestlers to the tournament and brought home 13 medals. All 16 of the Butler wrestlers won at least one of their matches.
Winning the tournament for the Tornado were Ryan Hannon 165 lbs and Zack Weaver 185 lbs.Both guys moved up a weight class to help the team and still were able to win their respective weight classes.Both Hannon and Weaver pinned their opponent in the finals.
Placing second for the Tornado were Connor Foust 75 lbs, Xavier Bennet 115 lbs, Will Bortmas 145 lbs, and Bryant Butler 210 lbs.Bryant Butler also moved up a weight class for the benefit of the team and was able to place second.
Placing third were Cody Houston 90 lbs, Korey Caudill 100 lbs, Jeremiah Bortmas 105 lbs, and Patrick Lokhaiser 155 lbs.Lokhaiser also moved up in weight class for the team and was able to place 3rd.
Earning fourth place finished for the Tornado were Kirk Gibson 110 lbs, Doug DeFrancisis 130 lbs, and Byron Minous 138 lbs.
The Golden Tornado finished their season with a 14-1 dual match record.They placed 3rd at the Burrell Duals, 3rd at the Shaler Titan Tournament,won the Butler Duals, and finished strong by winning the NA tournament this past weekend.Great Season guys!

Make sure to weigh-in and weigh-out everyday in the log book!!!
Make sure you have a ride ready to take you home at 5:30
Also Please make sure your practice gear is clean every day. You are required to cut down the risk of infections by showering daily with the soap in the locker room showers before you leave. Never leave without showering. Also, do not share towles, soap, shampoo, or workout gear. Make sure you bring your dirty workout clothes home in your mesh bag and keep the dirty clothes and bag seperate from your clean clothes/bag. We all need to do our part to prevent skin problems/diseases.
Don't leave practice without talking to Coach Geibel! Ever! Ever! Ever!
For those of you who were growing your winter coats, please be advised that you need to get a haircut that allows you to meet the hair requirement. Also facial hair needs to be shaved for matches.
